Anyway my shoes are cute, I’m enjoying this swing back toward the femme (I tend to go back and forth), and it’s exciting that I can wear heeled shoes again (because I don’t walk anymore).

I think in all seriousness it’s the way they have to scramble to stay on message. I’m usually scrambling for words, but not dishonestly.

Disabled people are almost all familiar with the effects of the social model of disability—where it’s less our bodies preventing full social inclusion and more of the fact that abled people just can’t quit throwing up barriers for us. In short: we get it.

And there’s splash damage. You don’t know who’s had to file a report after witnessing something horrific that happened to a student or patient or family member, who’s found out the hard way that the police and CPS can do more harm than good. Just be respectful right now. Lots of hurt to go around.

PTSD doesn’t have a “look”. A weird number of people think they will be able to discern who’s upset and keep inappropriate comments away from them. My dudes, the point of all this discussion is that abuse can happen to anybody anywhere. It’s not just the purview of the wealthy or the impoverished.
