Ha!

010

I got to read Hound of the Baskervilles for class when I was 11, and as I recall that was one of the last books that made for fun reading. Everything else was so depressing

130

Yep yep yep

010

It says something a bit different: "While Gerald said the agency initially decided not to run the manuscript through an AI-detection tool, instead basing the decision on conversations with the author" The author says they didn't get a chance to discuss in depth, not that they never discussed it.

120

(and he also says he didn't use an AI detector to do it)

110

I didn't see it as grumpy!!! But thanks for checking

030

Not in so many words, but it's that paragraph that gave me this impression: "After an editor raised concerns over potential AI use, however, after a process of attempting to validate the manuscript, Gerald made the decision to pull the novel from sale and cut ties with the author"

ooooh these are awesome Mind if I steal the idea for my anxious friends?

140

It sounds like they tried to do some edits with the author, and the author wasn't capable of doing them?

240

I mean what's the expertise here? I only accept advice from people who've undergone the entire process personally

Good morning!

During the school year I feed the cats when I get up at 6:15. It's the holidays and they start meowing at 6:10 every single day

Happy birthday!!

I just don't understand how people can stare at this and not see it's profoundly wrong. Like I don't always catch ai stuff, k1 is the expert, but this is obv and painful

1200

Oh he's fine! He didn't have a return train but I don't think the wildfires were anywhere near where he was

110

Sorry it was difficult but that thread is amazing (and now I'm off to reread the book)

060

Oh, I did try searching for the right email address, they made very sure I couldn't find it.

010

Yeah I've sent an enail, it's a small company so their support is only in business days 9 to 5 Let's see how that goes

130

Oh yeah I know why it exists and it makes sense from a company point of view, I'm just annoyed by having to deal with it (I think "mentally ill" is a bit of an unfair dig though, most mentally ill people don't contact customer support with an easy to solve issue)

020

(I know this isn't most people but as the customer I keep being annoyed by the effort I need to put in to justify my needs. If I give you my money can you trust me when I say I need help pls?)
