also through blender's "geometry nodes", i made my own Line Boil modifier effect! blender has a built in "Noise" modifier for a similar effect, but i wanted more direct control + a specific look thats more like my own typical line boiling, so i just made my own! very handy for drawing with a mouse

here's some of the Cool Stuff i've learned over the past ~7 months: Grease Pencil instantly rules if you're familiar with blender! internally its all vector lines, so you can just pick out + modify individual strokes which feels real nuts coming from animating 100% raster-based for so long

also i'm gonna do a lot more regular Art Posting's here in general, since my big "blender grease pencil + Mental training arc of the past 7 months or so" is proper over :D (and the patreon will get back to postings very soon too!!)

after i upload the next animation this summer, i'll be following up on it shortly by finally doing plushies of some Classique "Aim Kid" characters, because it'd rule but also to help secure immediate stability going onwards!

i still have some YCH comms left to do right now so it'll be about 2 more weeks before i can get to animating proper.. and thank you LOTS to everyone who's gotten a comm and been so kind and patient!! it's filled me with spirit!!

to be clear stay on ur anti-psychotics if you need them. being able to get off of them without major drawbacks was specific to my case of psychosis where the main thing fueling it in the past was a big fear of it that i no longer have thanks to professional help

dont stress about trying to be like disney. dont worry about sticking to every single principal like it's the ten commandments. please just create for yourself and experience the delight that comes from the simple act of seeing your characters come to life through motion. let that alone be special

i can't stress enough that ANIMATION IS ART! even if it's a long, tedious process to do. as hard as people try to say otherwise, there is no right or wrong way to animate if you're actually making it instead of letting a neural network do it for you, sucking out any expression in the process

its disgusting to see how companies truly view animation, a mere tool for profit instead of the art form it truly is. it's so ironic in toei's case because one piece's art direction recently has been absolutely awe-inspiring. you just cant replace the people behind animation or art as a whole

almost forgot to mention the little rig i made for this!! i set up a driver to offset the UVs of the mouth/eyes based on how much you move the matching bone on his face.. i was able to replicate this behavior in unity as well so it all translates in-game :D

the plan is to, at the end of me finishing the fangame i want to build around this, release all the source code publicly for people to poke around and do whatever they want with!! assuming this project sees the light of day LOL.. it's smaller scale than anything else ive done game-wise so Maybe

the game itself is supposed to be the rough aesthetics of parappa 1 but with the quality of life/transparency of parappa 2, and the difficulty of um jammer lammy for the most part!

it took forever to get this all set up because i also made an in-game chart editor, what you saw isn't just a hard-coded map, it's fully featured with variable length lines + multiple lines :D

to end on a lighter note heres a silly 2021 video of that same cat from earlier.. her name is Sookie and while i lived with my mom (yuck!) she was a very cute and loving little kitty.. she'd sit on my lap while i animated :D she's actually the cat that's been on my youtube banner all these years LOL

i dont really talk about it publicly anymore but dissociation is still very much a problem for me.. my dads shown me photos of me with him in places i dont recognize. someone in my close friend group passed 2 years ago and despite having known them for 6 years up to that point i barely remember them

despite everything i'd always been very good about archiving various moments of my life via my pictures + videos folders id been keeping since 2015.. they can be a source of Great Humor but also a source of Great Pain. heres a video i took of my family's cat using a ps vita in 2015
