Never mind the political tackiness; the writing for the past year has been insipid, poorly paced, and out of character. Really disappointing just as story telling.
I'm a ways behind but it felt like the story treated Walky and Joe's feelings getting trampled as being inconsequential. A story is allowed to have shitty things happen to characters, the author isn't obligated to make it all hugs, but it felt like I was being told I was stupid for caring.
