Update from the July 2026 Steam Hardware Survey Linux based systems accounted for 4.01% of the respondents, down from the all time high of 5.3% from a few months ago but still in line with a gradual upward trend since the launch of the Steamdeck in March 2022
im just a birdWell this is something StatCounter seems to have done some data revisions and doesn't classify desktops as "other OS" anymore And their July 2026 chart shows Linux shooting up to almost 12% while Windows has fallen below 56% This is VERY imperfect data but that's wild cc: @papapishu.bsky.social
