Honestly with a 9mo without a car, it'd be a logistical nightmare just to make it to his checkups. I feel like a lot of anti-car stuff comes from people who don't have kids tbh
This is because the checkups are scheduled in a car centric world. It would not be a nightmare if you were able to get the care you need in a few minutes walk in your neighborhood but since we’ve designed the entirety of society around car ownership, everything sucks.
My dentist is a 15 minute ride away. Was going to switch to a different dentist after we moved but the city put in new bike lanes to get there, making it not death to get me teeth cleaned.
Our pediatrician was a ten minute walk away. We chose her because she was a ten minute walk away. No regrets. (Density—and we are in a semi dense but not densest part of Seattle—makes things like this not only possible but normal).
Yeah, my kids’ pediatrician is in our neighborhood, so I tend to bike there. Before I had my cargo bike, we sometimes drove and sometimes walked with a stroller. But I grew up in the suburbs where that wouldn’t have been possible.
