there's actually no other word games, alyson. don't you understand how hard this is for them. what if they have to invent a new word game???

Like, it's such a minor, minor thing and they can even clear that hurdle. The bar is buried in the earth and they still trip over it.

Look cis people care about us as long as they aren't mildly inconvenienced in any way, even something as simple as finding another word game that makes them feel smarter than they are.

There are books, comics and so on by people that I grew up with & that I was passionate about, to the point of evangelising about them. But I was also able to give them up, and I *really* don't understand what hold Wordle and the Diana Wynne Jones wannabe have on these grown adults.

We make fun of JK’s mediocre writing, but she really stumbled upon a combo of escapist fantasy and unchallenging, status quo-validating politics that’s apparently harder for some people to quit than crack cocaine. Even people who know it’s bad will go for one more hit via a new fic or whatever.

It's so frustrating 'cause, like, I was *massively* into HP as a kid, and I also had a *very* long Wordle streak. But giving them up was...frankly pretty painless? There's just this refusal to even consider that trans people also gave up this stuff and didn't throw a tantrum over it.
