Thinking on this again and the saddest thing is a remake of both of them would almost certainly be non-union work so I wouldn't even see the audition. Pretty much none of these old JRPG remakes/remasters are union, the only exception I can think of offhand being FF7R.

Bob Bergen sent out a missive via Facebook for evidence of how non-union VO has become, (which he sees & Agrees with) saying that the Union needs "numbers!" and not anecdotal evidence. And, like... really? After years of the work just draining away you still need "numbers"? Embarrassing.

tbh the union doesn't need anything, it's not at fault for the deplorable state the industry is in. What the *industry* needs is actors who are privileged enough to be booking regularly to say "Hey, I'm already making more than enough, I don't have to have to take on the low-hanging fruit anymore"

I just remember the whole "Ads go union!" beat from years ago and I was like "Yes! Totally!......how?" Just never seemed to improve from there. Not even sure what the fix is anymore it's so bad...

I mean it's what I just said, it's for enough "big names" to stop being so selfish and taking on this NU stuff because "the conventions will pay for it". Eventually clients will realize they can't get the people they want.

It's what I'm trying to do personally. I asked my agent to no longer send me NU auditions because I'm lucky enough to make enough from the union work (which is still far less than nearly every other full time voice actor)

It's bleak out there. And then at the same time, I see a dubbing contract, union!, that is *just not* paying enough. Woefully out of date, out of touch contract. I've had people ask how to start, how to get XYZ and like... the game is *so different* from when I started, I don't know what to say.

Huh, I'm surprised FF7R is union, that's a pleasant surprise But maybe I shouldn't be if it's all about a ReUnion
