And then we had to crawl through a space that went up and over and down - outside I'd seen this bridge connecting 2 buildings. It was pitch black in that crawl space. And there was someone at the bottom rattling chains and making scary noises. That got me. I refused to slide down the slide

With the press of the entire dozen people or so expecting to move forward through the haunted house, and I was doing my best to stay at the top of the slide and screaming that I was not going down. The strangers in the group were not impressed that this kid was holding things up.

It was both ages and way too fast that I was shoved down the slide by the press of people.

But all's well. The teenager at the bottom of the slide that did all the scaring had the lights up in the room and when I came down - screaming my head off btw - he helped me out and said, "That's the exit right there. Just go to the exit." pointing to the other end of the room.

Anyways, Backrooms is giving me strong tween-Adria in the '80s at a haunted house vibes. The 90s aesthetic is well done.

A24 really seems to like psychological horror. An interesting juxtaposition between a liminal space being unsafe and an unsafe childhood.
