Yep. I stopped going when I couldn’t find someone to check me out or answer questions. I’ll do self-checkout at Food Lion/Costco but for some reason the CVS procedure was not apparent at my local when it implemented.
Costco is simply a better deal for anyone who isn't in a bind. That's really highlights CVS's market - convenience. Its ironic that their cost cutting has ruined their ability to serve their primary target audience - those seeking convenience.
Natural time for them to go out of business imo.
I buy very few items at Costco because almost everything is sold in unbreakable institutional size packages. For a household of 1 or 2 people, that’s just nonsensical.

The real trick is to ask a friend to buy you a gift card. Then you can go in without a membership and buy the staples like toothpaste that don't expire.
