I'm loving the comments of "THATS NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TO THE NAKED EYE!!!" like, no, it's not lol. It's extended exposure, receiving more light than the human eye is capable of, particularly within the environments on earth in which we're able to see stars at all.

Long exposure photos are misleading because stars are not round blobs. They are too far away to have any dimension. They should all be just pinpoints of light.

For months I've only been able to see a few stars, at best, when I go outside at night. I know I live in a city but it always seems to be cloudy now. Didn't see the comet. Didn't see the auroras. Can't find the Northern Crown!

In Ethiopia in the 70’s we’d drive 200 kilometers south of Addis and see this sky. I tell people you have no idea how many stars there are! One night we counted 180 shooting stars!

Why can't we see all those stars

I've read something about space being so cluttered around earth that it's interfering with astronomy experts telescopes. Especially the new starlink satellites. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

What the night sky looked like before electricity.

I saw that sky once in my life. I was in the outback Flinders Ranges in South Australia with a publican who was meeting a supply truck way away from any civilisation. We met up and the truck had all his lights blazing, as did we.

I am fortune enough to have seen all the stars as a boy before mans light stole it.

I drove upstate with a friend from NYC and they were amazed at the sky and how many stars there are.

Shit most US citizens don't even realize there are other countries on OUR PLANET.

My eye doctor says when they close their eyes everyone sees galaxies, black holes, the gates of heaven and hell, but only a few see the Flying spaghetti Monster.

As a child my family travelled from England to the Mojave desert, landing late at night. My father carried me across the tarmac believing me to be asleep. I looked up & gasped. I'd never seen so many stars. I was amazed again on a childhood camping trip in Montana where I saw the Milky Way. . .

I once drove across Nevada (US-50, I think) on a cloudless night. I nearly crashed the car from the amazing distraction.

We are blind in what we see, we don't listen to what we hear, we refuse to feel what touches us, and we encage our brains!

If you have never seen that sky go camp in the mountains. Don't do it in the winter and don't leave your food out. the Bears will eat you and the food. Bring a telescope if you have one. You won't need it for that view but for looking at specific things. Have fun.

Distance between objects in space is pretty big (in comparsion to object's sizes), so space is insanely huge and mostly empty.

I saw the sky like that while camping in the Rockies. I was on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night, sat down in the middle of the road and gazed.

Every once in a while whilst traveling, I get to see a lot more stars. Last month I think I even detected the Milky Way. When I was a kid you could look out the window at the night sky and see the Milky Way and all the constellations. Light pollution sucks.

Us humans are amazing but limited. 32 decades of wavelength and we can't see even one. All the rest we figured out in the last 200 years or so. No wonder we really didn't know anything until recently. Great photos btw!

This is fake bullshit. The sky doesn't look like this to the naked eye even in clear dark skies like death valley. And it doesn't look like this in a telescope unless you look at the Milky Way. This account is just engagement farming with doctored images. Lots of this here, just like on threads.

When I contemplate the enormity of the universe and the possibility of multiverse I feel very small.

I could see the sky like that at the bottom of the Grand Canyon at night. We’d stand on the bridge in the pitch dark and look up. It was amazing.

I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that it is daylight in space because nothing is blocking the sun.

Most people are missing the below picture is with is with long exposure to capture all of the light. The images that look like this you see of national parks at night have long exposures to enhance it.

I see pictures like this, and drive through areas that don't have a single tree for miles and I shake my head and think 'Yeah, it's a great time to be alive and all, but I can't help feel a bit sad that we are seeing the world at its absolute worst for sheer natural beauty'.
