‘Extremely scary findings’ show climate crisis is supercharging Europe’s wildfire weatherLatest study says global heating has made hot, dry and windy conditions in Spain at least 20 times more likely The extreme heat and drought stoking huge wildfires in Spain and France were made far more likely by the climate crisis, a scientific analysis has found. Global heating made hot, dry and windy weather at least 20 times more likely in Spain and twice as likely in France, experts from the World Weather Attribution (WWA) consortium calculated. The finding is the latest to pin the blame for the continent’s sweltering and deadly summer firmly on the heating caused by the burning of oil, gas and coal. Continue reading...www.theguardian.com

What is truly infuriating is that pretty much all of us who had Geography in school learned how a sustainable agriculture as well a sustainable economy keeps our planet safe for us humans. If you mention this to politicians you’re being told it’s all mumbo-jumbo that doesn’t work in the „real world“

Never mind eh! UKGov shall “Drill Baby Drill” Oil and Gas!

The Guardian highlights a grim climate reality: Europe's wildfire seasons are expanding so rapidly they now overlap year-round. Unseasonal heatwaves and prolonged droughts are stretching emergency services to their limits, proving climate impact is no longer just a summer threat.

Yes, it's a fact that the climate crisis is supercharging wildfires.

The data from 79 sources including official EU data tends to disagree with you, indeed world wide the incidence of wildfires and the destruction they cause appears to be on a downward trend.

More fearmongering 🙄 These wildfires are arson, fields don't spontaneously combust.

Clearly you've never seen a compost heap that caught fire because it was too warm. I have. It happens.

Actually, they do. Do some research before making wild statements.

There are three components to fire: heat, fuel and oxygen. Work it out from there.

Also pro Reform, so 🤔

In East Anglia we have flint if you bash it with a machine or something sparks fly. Glass on the ground creates wild fires, in Australia it is huge issue. Idiots with barbecues they can't handle or the obvious cigarette butts. Fires can arise is combustible materials as detailed.

good points Liz💯 and it underlines what we all have to look for:paying attention of our environment. And :STOP this dangerous barbecue-fever outside😡eat you daily flesh if needed but please prepare it inside !

FAKE NEWS. These are primarily caused by pyromaniacs and (green) public bodies that have banned the building of firebreaks etc (which once, I don’t know, stopped these fires from burning out of control).

V confirms this claim checks out. Scientific studies confirm human-caused climate change significantly increases the likelihood and severity of extreme wildfire weather in Europe, particularly in Spain… Real-time fact-checks on your feed: https://veratify.ai Errors or comments: info@veratify.ai

That is not extremely scary. This 👇 is extremely scary. Ceuta citizen "I'm from Ceuta, and what we're going through right now is a genuine invasion. Please, we need everyone's help in spreading the word so that they declare a national emergency".
