Nearly a quarter of voters in Europe now back far-right parties

Nearly a quarter of voters in Europe now back far-right partiesAnalysis by more than 150 political scientists finds proportion who back such parties has increased nearly fivefold since 1995 Almost one in four voters in Europe now cast their ballot for far-right parties, research shows, a proportion that has grown nearly fivefold since the mid-1990s and climbed particularly steeply over the past three years. Analysis by more than 150 political scientists in 31 countries found the proportion of Europeans voting for a far-right party in their country’s most recent national elections had risen to more than 23%, from about 10% a decade ago and roughly 5% in 1995. This is the cost of centrism.

I guess the Russian influence campaign is working.

So why is the media coverage as if it is more than three quarters? #FCKnzs

It might be because more than three quarters of the politicians do.

3/4 don't in that case.

Then, a quarter of voters in Europe are an embarrassment to humanity. It demonstrates that they are either gullible and uneducated, or small-minded and mean. The far-right are babies who scream, me me me! Everyone else says, we.

Not surprising though is it? The wealthy hoard more and more and distract the poor by telling them societies issues are immigrants fault and push that messaging via their vast media ownership. "Centre" parties maintain status quo and those less fortunate believe the lies of the right more and more.

Extremely dangerous times. Liberal left wing parties must fight the far rights propaganda. Playing nice isn't going to stop the far right.

"More than 3/4 of European voters reject far right parties" would be another way to put it.

I agree however I think it’s important to remind people that there is a significant part of the population that support the far right.

It wasn’t hard to see this coming. This goes back to Jörg Haider in 🇦🇹 in the mid 90’s. It began as a ripple as people thought we’d never go back to facism. It (right-wing Nationalism) was suppressed until 2016 or at least confronted. Poor policies /weak leadership have played into its hands.

State the real percentage please. Nearly a quarter could mean seventeen percent in some writers opinions.

Which three quarters don’t. Thankfully.

And what percentage of the media (and media owners)?

🇨🇦 This is pretty normal I think. In Canada we probably have a similar # of citizens that would vote extreme right, particularly in certain regions. It seems that all populations have a certain percentage of raging control freak, misogynistic, racist losers within their voting lists.

That's a lot of speedbumps.

And 3 quarters don't, if I remember correctly from school that is more.

See Brexiters, MAGA and Merz voters...

They don't care, so long as the "other" suffers more than they do.

Are you sure? Because those rightwing "parties" are writing a lot of polls themselves

#BurnRussiqDown and you'll see the polls flattened.

I don't get it why people still trust these Trump copies, Kremlin supporters.

According to the BBC its 100%

And Michael Grade...

So almost 80% don’t. That’s the fucking headline

Idiots

Far right mentality will only bring us all closer to World War Three.

Morons

Fools

Wow, so the silent majority of racist fuckwits is actually a very loud minority. Makes you wonder why the media gives them most of the airtime, and supposedly decent, sensible politicians pander to them.

Demonstrably they don’t. There are 650 seats in the House of Commons. Reform hold 8 seats. Which is considerably lower than a quarter. It’s 1.2%. It’s very similar in most European governments. Yes I understand the fear - but voters aren’t backing them in these numbers. You’re just saying they are.

It's strange that, when media pushes far-right narratives constantly and doesn't hold lying politicians to account.
