I totally get it, they made some really questionable changes for the show and deliberately slowed the pacing down for some reason. And aside from Tim Robbins and Rebecca Ferguson the cast is kind of a mixed bag.
Even if I ultimately end up dissatisfied with the show (I give it 50/50 right now lol) I'm still happy it introduced me to the books because they were great.
