💯-- as a former AI researcher I resent it even more.... The fact is the science underlying LLMs and genAI is a huge breakthrough. The people and companies promoting and developing them are profoundly wrongheaded, destructive, and malicious.

I keep trying to get people to understand that these things actually ARE sci-fi cool but they're basically lab experiments that escaped containment and got turned into Products. They're literally part of the path to eventually get to true thinking machines, but we need a lot of experimentation first
