Yeah most Bodegas don't sell grocery like what Mamdani is saying usually it's already big corps that have a monopoly on this already so what are they competing with? I'm just confused because most of these comments aren't analyzing this from how NYC works.

There's at least two grocery stores within a block of the first announced location in Manhattan.

Ok i see what you mean theres a foodtown and a another area, but im talking about bodegas which are smaller businesses that sell different thing.

And most of these are already big companies in the area so maybe they’ll leave. Most of those are selling a lot more opt than what Mamdani was talking about

That's cool, but everybody else is talking about the possibility of not putting these stores in actual food deserts could force the grocery stores already in these neighborhoods out of business because they *can't* undersell staple groceries by 30%.

Like, I've seen this happen in my own area. We had an independent grocery store in the area then a Safeway opened a block away from it and forced the IGA out of business, leaving the community with a massive empty storefront for several years.
