it was only fairly recently that I found out that locusts aren't an entirely separate species but rather a thing that happens to grasshoppers. Basically it's berserk mode.
Frankie Huang 黄碧赤TIL grasshoppers transform into locusts within hours (like, change color and shit) when they gather closely while feeding and brush into sensitive hairs on one another’s bodies. They then go into a mating, migrating and feeding frenzy. So basically the biggest, most terrifying orgies in the world.
