Going to Alaska next September. Anyone that’s been what are some must see spots. Looks like this is the itinerary.

Cruise ship travel will have all the stops lined out for you. But, you once you disembark in Whittier, rent a car and go to Seward, the best town in AK. Go out on a Kenai Fjords National Park tour, and enjoy the town. Best of Ak is Seward and the surrounding National Park

September is good, end of tourist season, not packed, fall weather. Coastal areas lots of rain but it’s a great time of year

Appreciate it greatly. Any must see stops in Skagway & Ketchikan? In the days following the cruise in Vancouver, Grouse Mountain looks pretty cool. Any must see stops in Skagway? Is Kenai Fjords doable from Anchorage. I want the best bang for my buck photographer wise. These are our stops so far.

Have kids with us as well on the stops. Days in Vancouver after cruise will probably be my brother and I renting a car trying to see the best vista views

Although Ive been down that way once, south east Ak (Skag/Ket) is out of my jurisdiction. Whittier is about 50 minutes from Anchorage, Seward is a bit over 2 hours from ANC. The Seward highway is one of the most scenic drives anywhere, and Seward and the K.Fjords is a phitographers paradise.

Hike the Chilkoot Trail (near Skagway), go spend a bunch of time up in Denali, go to Seward and spend a few days exploring Kenai Fjords In short, a bunch of stuff you can't do via a cruise. Cruises are fine though. But your options are highly limited. Juneau is a cool town.

Our plan is to stay in Vancouver for a few days after the cruise and hit up some other spots wanted see Garibaldi Provincial Park
