Hike the Chilkoot Trail (near Skagway), go spend a bunch of time up in Denali, go to Seward and spend a few days exploring Kenai Fjords In short, a bunch of stuff you can't do via a cruise. Cruises are fine though. But your options are highly limited. Juneau is a cool town.
