Internet Shaquille had a video about fragrances as a hobby and said remember, a hobby or interest doesn’t mean having to spend money. Which is I think crucial. Culture is not buying, possessing. A lot of ills with “fandom” come with the idea that because they bought Thing they feel they own Thing

My stance on piracy has remained consistent over my entire career: I'd prefer if you paid money for my games, but if that's not going to happen for whatever reason, I'd rather you pirate one of my games vs never playing it.

Deranged, “fan as stockholder” kind of thinking. Just as art and culture itself is vastly diminished by being relegated only to the wealthy because they’re the only ones who can afford leisure, so too is any culture on the receiving end. I don’t want only just fans who can afford to buy the game.

genuinely insightful, well said. speaking of fans as a stockholder stuff, wish brigador fans didn't deny how hurtful all those YCS posts about trans* people and chinese people were.

If you'd like to talk about that, I'm happy to. We have plenty of very active, core members of our community that are LGBTQIA+ and several spoke to me personally when that happened six years ago, and did speak to me personally about how hurtful it was, asked me to reflect on it. Difficult but kind.

Then I'll collect my thoughts and send an email sometime, assuming you've got a public one somewhere. Thanks for your time.

thank you for coming out as pro-preservation (:3); it’s so fuckin depressing when a gamedev gets bitchy about their bag, not seeing the big picture, etc

It’s laughable the sheer number of times “official” releases were just some sort of re-packaged “pirate” emulation effort born from someone who deeply loved the game enough to keep it playable in the long, quiet intervening years when few were still thinking of the game at all.

Least of all whoever still owned the rights. IP rights don’t mean caretaker

Wait does that mean like... perfume/cologne, or like, smelling scents around you as a passtime? Cause I really want to hear more about this if it's the latter.

It’s the former but surely frag heads love the latter. In situ rare bouquets. Nature scents. Smell hunters.
