This outbreak is starting to approach the size of Kivu outbreak (second largest ever recorded at 3,470 reported cases). But that outbreak ran for almost 2 years. This outbreak was declared little more than 2 months ago. (And yes, it also suggests that this was spreading undetected for a long time.)

I’ve seen zero news updates on Ebola. You’d think that everything was contained and under control. I don’t know why this isn’t newsworthy. Thank you for sharing this critical information.

Here’s the latest picture of the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in the DRC, up to July 23 (SitRep 70). Confirmed cases jumped recently, mostly from Ituri province. The total by Health Zone is 2,972, with 1 case unassigned. Confirmed deaths were also revised sharply upwards, now at 1,309. 🧵

People couldn't care less that refrigerated trucks had to be used next door to accommodate the corpses during the height of Covid, so why would they pay attention to a few hundred deaths somewhere farther away?
