This sounds incredible! On a smaller scale we are attempting something similar in the Faroe Islands and Denmark with the PASTBIRD project at @au.dk . I hope the paths of these phds and postdocs may cross!

When I went from writing an MA thesis in China Studies (comparing Chinese and Western critique of conceptual art) to a MSc thesis in theoretical physics, I was absolutely stunned by the sloppy reasoning and writing in the latter… statements just out of the blue, citing "correspondence", etc. 😬
