In using your analogy, if cyclists are exasperated & can't follow the rules on not using sidewalks, why can't they take public transportation instead. I love my cycling friends. But I don't want to be hit by a cyclist, scooter rider nor x-country team because I am trying to walk on a sidewalk.

I have personally been hit by a cyclist while I was walking on sidewalk along Sheridan. Also by Loyola runners, even though I stepped out of the way of the mass. Also from a handlebar of a scooter I've heard from cyclists & running groups that the Loyola team takes over the whole path at the lake

Yet you survived these incidents. Cars kill 1,300 people a year in Illinois, plus serious injuries, plus billions in property damage. A bicyclist has killed one pedestrian in Illinois this century.

I know statistics. You are anti-car. I am pro-safety & respect. I have had 3 hip replacements. I don't want to spin the lucky wheel to have a 4th because people think their usage is more important. I just want to be able to walk safely on a sidewalk, just like cyclists want to ride safely.
