Yeah, not trying to crap on it or anything. Like you suggest, it's probably the lowest priority and also the most politically challenging inter-bay gap to fill.

This is all 30-50 years out stuff, but I would love to see coordinated thinking about a new RSR Bridge with rail connecting to a redeveloped SQ, with a SMART station and ferry landing (which would be 10 minutes faster to SF due the ability to avoid the channel).

That said, how you get regional rail *to* the eastern landing of the RSR is beyond me.

All this to say, I think of Richmond as a better terminus/tie-in location for SMART than southern Marin. There are just way too few people south of Blithedale Ridge in Mill Valley to justify the kind of rail investments that they will oppose anyway.

Probably the best option, but skipping San Quentin for the TOD potential and new ferry stop may not be tenable unless you figure out a short funicular/gondola type of connection down to the water

I suspect it would be a long and high viaduct to/from Ohio Ave. Difficult but not impossible

Yeah, you'd need quite the span over the BNSF yard there, and even then I'm not sure what happens without going through the Chevron property.

How you get from a bridge into either corridor depends a lot on the service you intend to run, and what is already existing or planned at the time. One example: do you want direct San Rafael to Sacramento service?

Absolutely. The San Quentin redevelopment could finance a large chunk of this if an EIFD or similar mechanism is established. The old ferry parking lot and dock could be similarly redeveloped, too, for revenue.
