We do a lot more coupon clipping and buying generic these days. The kids aren't getting any smaller and we still eat at home the vast majority of the time because it's the healthier option, but the margin by which it's cheaper than eating out has narrowed.

I think The Discourse tends to miss that it's not "everyone is doing great, all just bad vibes" or "everyone is struggling, fuck your charts". Like, I recognize I'm not struggling to eat by any means, but groceries went up faster than my paycheck and yes that doesn't feel like an improvement.

I tell people I dont eat beef any more, I have learned a lot of chicken and bean recipes.

Yeah it’s like “can I still afford stuff?” And the answer for my family is yes, but it isn’t as easy as it used to be and we’ve already loooong done the “easy” stuff so if it gets any harder, or if my family needs help…well…
