Hive mind. I have winters as my academic summer because chinooks are too cruel to my brain. If I were to give Halifax a go for these four months as respite anyone recommend a place to rent near Dal…near Vienna street?

At this point, my retirement locations IMO are Ireland or Nova Scotia. Maybe Wales. Citizen of all. Just need to convince the Torontonian in my life. Who only has one citizenship. Sigh

After 40 years living in Alberta, my family moved to Halifax a couple years ago. Partly because of incoming anti-trans laws, partly wildfire smoke. My wife and one kid also get migraines (smoke and air pressure swings were their triggers). It's a pretty great place especially on the peninsula.

Oh thank you because me and my kid get migraines. We send him every summer to Halifax to stay with family and he seems so very fine all summer long…while I suffer (currently in an episode)

Summer is very stable. Winters less so, but still better then Edmonton was. Their trigger limit for them was around 1mbar/hr pressure change, or air quality pm2.5 of more then 20-25microgram/m3

I hate to be "that guy" but for context, my kid missed a month of school, had 2 ER trips, 4 days in the hospital for their migraines, which turned into BPVC/PPPD and needed vestibular rehab. Magnesium/B2/coenzyme q10 helped, but what has almost cured them was creatine.

There is research from U of Regina on using creatine for brain health as we age. I thought "migraines are a brain thing" and suggested it to my wife. She tried it, and has been migraine free since. Kid will still get them if they get too hot. Huge YMMV but I haven't seen anything that worked as well

I appreciate it I do.been there done that. Have the neurologists (oh so many) and MRIs (not to be that guy but we’ve had oh so many) . We take every prescription, Triptan, and thing (magnesium—what kind, what do you suggest—creatine, b2, coq10.

I don't have a specific rental recommendation, but try to find a place close to work. The peninsula is not a place you want to be driving often. To convince your partner, come visit in the summer. Restaurant patios with ocean views instead of adjacent to busy streets are wonderful

I work at University of King's College, which is Dal-adjacent, so feel free to ask any questions. I don't have any lines on housing, unfortunately, but I know from my students it's a real scramble to find a place.

Oops, that should be Jubilee and Preston, Vernon is the other cross street between Dal and Quinpool Road, and is quite nice, especially with new traffic quieting measures in place.
