1960 film premiere at the Roxy of Surf Fever. My father did the real surfing for the actors. RIP pops

Remember being a kid living in Ontario. Dad would drive us all the way to Pasadena for a Big Boy burger.

Also Burbank (before he turned to a life of crime):

Worked at one in Menlo Park in 1967. One shift did me in. My own peers were pigs. Rude, loud, messy and no tips. ONE NIGHT. LOL. I was 17.

Weird. Founded in California in the 30's, and now almost all of them are in Michigan. I wonder what that story is.

It's a sad venture capital story, now.

The good old days … When men were men, Women were women, And Trump was irrelevant.

The cars.

There was a Bobs Big Boy on the East side of Van Nuys Bl. & Clark Street in Van Nuys / Sherman Oaks - Bobs was a robust hangout & cruise spot on Wed Nights ( Club Night) & after football games in the 60's

There were two Bob’s that anchored VN Blvd. That one, and the one up near the big Panorama City stores. If you got tired of Bob’s you could always go to Farrell’s or Mike’s Pizza!

~I dont recall a Bobs Big Boy in Panorama City- nI do recall an Oscars down there. Bobs Big Boy & Oscars were the primary turn around spots for cruisers.

The Bob's hamburger relish! 'nuf said.

OMG my grandma lived right around the corner from there...I'm pretty sure it's gone now, bummer

It was still there in the late 90s early 2000s. I worked in Burbank and would go there for lunch.

Right, it's just part of a parking lot now, I think, it's been a while since I've seen it...

I just looked it up. It’s still there. In 1992 it was designated by the State of California as a place of historical interest, per their website. bobs.net

That’s the Toluca Lake Bob’s which is still there. The photo is of Bob’s #2 on San Fernando Blvd and Cedar, which went through several remodels until it closed in about 1977.

Actually I was thinking of the one in West Covina on the corner of Arrow Hwy and Citrus Blvd, that's where my grandma lived. But thank you for the clarification, now I know.

🙂 You’re welcome. It seems there are still a lot of them around. The last one I was in was in Tawas, Michigan, near my mother’s house.

Thanks! I also recall a Bob’s on Wilshire across from the building that had the big Elsie the Cow picture on it. Not sure if that one is still there.

Ответ для Lady3jane

No, long gone sadly. There are only three or four Bob’s left.

This is the San Fernando Blvd and Cedar Ave Bob’s which closed in I think 1977. The original design. Right near Alameda, across the street from IKEA. It opened in about 1944-45.

My dad would get a Big Boy Combo, mom would get a Brawny Lad and I liked the Swiss Miss!

Love me some Burbank Bobs

I miss Bob’s Big Boy

When food was real

Used to frequent the one on Van Nuys Blvd as a child. Still use their Thousand Island and Blue Cheese and would love to see them bring back the Tartar Sauce.

They still make it but it’s hard to find and is part of a 3-pack of others. I think they discontinued the chili sauce.

Marvellous photo

I worked at Bob's when I was 16, not this one.

Was Bob ever in a Ghostbusters film? If not, shame on them.

Love those Double Deckers👊

Haven't seen chili size on a menu in decades. My wife thinks I made the dish up.

So cool

Grandpa used to take me to Bob's on Central Avenue, Phoenix. Bob's burgers and chocolate shakes. Our thing. Miss him and Bob's.

The coolest part is knowing, without question, that my dad ate there that year.

The year I was born

My all time favorite hamburger spot was the Bob’s Big Boy on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California. It was right next to Pasadena City College where I was a student. Those were the days. The best days and Bob ‘s Big Boy’s burgers and fries were a big part of it.

There's a place a bit a ways from me that still has the BOBS BIG BOY statue. It's been shut down since the late 90s, but that creepy ass boy is still there holding up a hamburger. Or whatever it was supposed to be.

What does "CHILI SIZE" meal?

SERIOUSLY. I almost decided OP's image must be AI, because of that shit. Because it makes no sense.

Big Boy had the best Strawberry pie ever.

And brownies. But the pie was only “seasonal” as they used to say.

I worked as a Prep Supervisor at a Big Boy in Central NY...the ONLY restaurant of its kind that made ALL of its soups from scratch. Some teens stole the big boy statue and bragged about it, and the police showed up at their apt and arrested them. The Restaurant refused to press charges.

"Well, in many ways, the Big Boy never left … He's always offered the same high-quality meals at competitive prices."

I spent most of my senior year skipping class and hanging out at Bob’s. Good times

My brother went to college in Philly. When my Mother & I would go to pick him up or bring him back, we often stopped at the Bob's there for a meal. Good memories of those times. Both of my Mother & brother are now deceased.

I remember that place! I got the flu the night my family ate there(not Bob’s fault!) but I was never ever able to eat there again. No one else in my family got sick..just lucky me.

Cool!
