I mostly liked 16, even with the criticisms I have of it. I will absolutely go back and replay it at some point. Funnily, I started out very cynical about the FF7 trilogy, ended up liking Remake way more than I thought I would, and then Rebirth just cratered that newfound goodwill. I'm a fuddyduddy
