I have in fact read this book! And most of the sequels. I liked the first book a lot; I got an actual sense of risk for the characters, which isn't something I usually get with books aimed at the pre-YA youngers. It is *super silly*. Like, it makes Dr Who look completely serious non-speculative fic.
