Sorry - golf courses are almost all environmental wastelands - deserts of monoculture grass, relying on massive amounts of fertilizers, pesticides and water. I'm no data centre champion - but we have to put them into perspective with so many other land uses that are terrible for the environment.

That is a hyperbolic take at best. They use several species of grass and are surrounded by native plants and woodlands that support a huge variety of wildlife species. They are great for organic fertilization and pesticide-free controls. They have come along way since the 60's.

Between a native forest and a golf course, I think we both agree that there is no comparison. A golf course is only marginally better than a corn field when it comes to biodiversity and avoidance of the use of fertilizers and pesticides. I suspect you are an avid golfer? ;-)

I am not a golfer. I have a degree in landscape maintenance/horticulture and worked on golf courses. I have followed the industry for almost 20 years and watched how they have improved conservation, ecosystem safety, and resilience. But sure, data centers are totes same.
