I'm sure the nasty smoke isn't helping but the plants that bolted are cool weather crops so that's normal. And for me, tomatoes are wildly variable. If you get a catalog from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange there's lots of planting info. Also some libraries have seeds! (The quality can vary though.)
