There's this bit from one of the OxVids I can never find where Jane goes on about the struggles short people face like "seeing over the top of people at gigs" and you pipe in from off-screen "I go for the atmosphere!" It plays in my head every time I go to a show and see shorter people around me.

Standing room for a musical, even a preview, is fucking bonkers. The whole point of a musical is that everyone can see it, the only way everyone can see it is if people are sitting! Whose idea was this? LMFAO

This is the first time I’ve ever been invited to a musical preview. As a big theatre fan I was SO excited. So to find myself in a nightclub with no seats (I wore heels 😭) and no view of the stage (even in heels 😭) honestly was so deflating. Cast sang well. This song was my fave. Weird night.

Also, had the fun experience of lining up to get a picture (I rarely do it but I thought eff it) only for a bunch of people to skip the line just before I got to the front. If they’re bigger than me, esp in theatre, I get it, but when I finally got there the photographer just left, saying nothing 🙃

I managed to get a snap on my phone by being a brave adult and simply asking the nice people behind me (and ofc offering the same in return), but yeah just had a real “guess I’m not important enough lol” imposter syndrome moment that I had to quickly shake off before going in.

Yeah was honestly just dejected about not being able to see, I suspect the photographer just had to be somewhere. Just sucks that I DID get there in time for a photo, got delayed by PRs bringing others forward, and then me and a bunch of people behind me got zero acknowledgment when photos stopped 🙃

As a fellow short person, I am furious on your behalf. I swear, every event like this needs to have a designated space near the stage that's reserved for people below a certain height, and anyone above that height encroaching on that space should get punched in the gut. 💢

Went to the theatre tonight for the first time in 30 years to see Stewart Lee and he was brilliant. The absolute THUMB sat next to me kept narrating the show to his girlfriend. "Look! It's *spoiler*" again and again.

A stage musical with standing room only? Seems like either a very deliberate and very odd choice, or a complete amateur-hour blunder. ...Actually, that's an unfair comparison. I've been to plenty of amateur productions where I could see just fine, despite being all of 5'6.

It was a preview “event” that had like 5 songs and a short interview with one of the creative team. I was surprised everyone was allowed to record - I only really filmed the above to show how hilariously bad my view was. This song was VERY ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ and I greatly enjoyed that.
