Someone has made the decision not to put this safely in the depot, and needs to be, shall we say, told very firmly they are a disgrace and be made to understand that ancient history is precious. This is shocking, the local media should be writing about it, do alert them - shame is a powerful thing.

This is a great post, Kenny and I was full of hope when the visualisation was shown. However, by the end of it I was bealing. I wonder if it will ever stand proudly again, as the important megalith it is.

Can you put up some of the stone photographs you took as an example here, please? The shock value of the images alone will go far beyond Fife & Scotland.

Would it help to write to Fife Council and cite this article (or something else)? I ended fallig down some steps and injuring myself last year after giving a bumblebee talk because they refused to pay for the lighting at a community venue, so feeling extra grudgy.

Thanks for highlighting this. I live in Kirkcaldy and had no knowledge of this awful desecration of our history, although I'm very aware of the housing development mentioned which may be it's future sighting. Seems to me the developers are slowing things down to allow for " changes in planning"

Reminds me of stories of 18th and 19th century farmers destroying megaliths. Really infuriating that we’re still doing this. This is our past.
