Jay Allen28 июл., 10:47Everyone defending Japan's tightening immigration policies to the death ignores the real issue, which is that Japan is facing severe economic problems and immigration causes precisely zero of them
Dan Animal28 июл., 11:43It'll be great for the people who print the signs that are everywhere advertising that basically every business needs more people to work…
Dimitry R (sky_and_sea)28 июл., 11:57everyone defending Japan’s tightening immigration policies is a fascist apologist and deserves all the economic and social problems coming for them
Six {So, what now?}28 июл., 11:20I run a business manager visa discord, and everyone's just fucking sick of it. So many are planning their exit, while others are panicking as they've been here for years and no real options to leave. The instability has wrecked any semblance of Japan being a place worth doing business in.
Complex Oscillator28 июл., 14:03Immigration is, in fact, the solution to a number of Japan's problems.

Nini28 июл., 13:20Can't agree more. I applied for my PR just last week & was anxious, not only because I don't know if it's gonna be approved, but even if I can re-apply, it's gonna be so much more expensive, and I think the prime minister seriously needs to get more sleep to avoid making big decisions like this 🫠🫠
Matt28 июл., 14:42I don’t think there has ever been a time where more people are actively doing or trying to give up their lives and move their wealth to Japan, often chasing a dream of pouring cash into an abandoned country home to drive tourism to unsung regions. And the response is to make that harder?
Aaadsfasdfasdf28 июл., 13:37I’ve thought a lot of this, and my take is that Japan is afraid of taking the necessary steps to allow the immigration and integration that is happening in the big cities (c.f. any city conbini) more broadly and wants to move to a Dubai style multi tiered residency status system.
Doug B28 июл., 11:36And these changes will likely just make it worse! Almost the definition of cutting off nose to spite face.
Jay Allen28 июл., 10:47Yes, we all agree that "Japan has a right to set its own immigration policies." But everyone else also gets to point out when this policy is stupid and counterproductive
Bennet87 🏳️🌈28 июл., 11:03Japan: serious economic problems, ageing population with not enough younger workers to sustain it, birthrate not high enough for replacement Also Japan: but we don't want any more filth immigrants! 🙄 Suppose it's what you get with perennially right-wing governments.
