What side are you taking in the petty battle between a literary translator and a blockbuster director and why does the fact that I don't give a shit make me feel like one of the few adults in the room? Y'all are inventing bullshit drama to distract yourselves from the fact that we're in hell.

The poem they’re fighting over is 3000 years old. Think about how many different kinds of hell humanity has lived through during that time. Wars, plagues, genocides, the collapse of civilizations—and the Odyssey has outlasted it all.

If I see one more "you go girl" or one more "step off, bitch" thinkpiece I'm straight up never going to watch the silly cyclops movie because it's existence will just straight up annoy me.

I will say that the reaction to this article from people I normally respect has been alarming. It was, to me, a well written article that made me think a bit. But the way some people have spoken about it, it sounded like she punched in the face

It struck me as petty and bitchy.

Fair enough! I think I have such a low opinion of Nolan movies that that part of it completely missed me

I think people are just extremely desperate for something to dominate the news that isn't child porn, AI bookburning and heedless war, and I'm happy with letting them enjoy a mostly victimless beef

I didn't care, but now I'm thinking about choosing a side after reading your point about it working as a distraction from living in hell. A distraction sounds really nice right now. I could use one of those. Hold on: I'll grab a coin!
