Every time I see this advert on the tube for Thermomix, it makes me think of Theranos, Juicero, and ReadyMix Concrete.

Not a Thermomix user myself, but tbf... Theranos was an outright scam, and I know a couple of Thermomix users who have been using theirs on a regular basis for longer than Juicero was even a company. I understand you can also use it manually, and it doesn't need to be perma-online (saves locally).

I don't think I would get one myself, given the cost-benefit ratio vs. the appliances I already have, but I have a friend who lives alone and swears by it both on convenience and kitchentop space saving (which is yet another consideration). So it does have its niche.

Thanks for the responses. I did some more research than gut reaction based on the brand name and general internet enshitification. I'd never heard of this device or company before (so the ad worked), and turns out the they have been around longer than me!

The maker can always fuck it up, but you can give it lower odds if it's a low-key been-around-forever German appliance manufacturer than a ex-Meta ex-Google bro that just raised $100M. 😆
