Except in this version, the Doctor shows up and randomly sprays the kid with a garden hose. Doesn't matter where Manchin is, the Doctor had a garden hose. Dormitory, summer job, corporate board room, first class flight-- garden hose. Sometimes the TARDIS is there and the hose runs out of it.

Finally, an old man, Manchin confronts the Doctor and asks why, why did he terrorize him with that garden hose for his whole life? And The Doctor says, "To prevent you from becoming a monster."

Manchin retires to a medium-sizer home to spend time with his loved ones. He avoids politics and business, even in casual conversation. Sometimes, while mowing his lawn, he looks over at the garden hose and gives a little smile.
