If this is at all related to the BG video getting taken down, it may unfortunately be a result of having once enforcing IP copyright and potential NDA-breakage, SH must now enforce it across the board or else the copyright could become invalid/a grievance could be filed with the union.

I think we can all thank a certain music video for this. Though I have to wonder if it has more to do with the artist who animated it. Weren't they an official spindlehorse animator?
