Eh. Maybe? They don't need to. I get that they drove a truckload of money up to Chris's house but he really doesn't want to play there for long term anymore & anyway 'papa Steve' is easy to explain away with multiversal shenanigans. (That said, yeah, they don't NEED to do ANY of this bullshit.)
