Singer is made by Janome and I'm only on my second Janome after heavy use like 'making my brocade wedding skirt and a few quilts' because it was cheaper to buy a new one that promised autothreading (too fiddly to bother with in practice) than to have the mechanism realigned when it needed it

but about once every 2-3 years I forget how stupid fiddly finicky the tension disc threading on EVERY sewing machine is and cry for three days instead of rethreading it from scratch and fixing my problem and I wonder how many people throw their sewing machine out when that happens?

I literally burned out my mum's Singer in the 80s; she had it at least 20 years before that and the power pedal caught fire with my foot on it. don't know if she ever got it fixed, I just switched to my gran's manual Singer instead and wished it had a treadle
