This article focuses on mom's but as a parent I'm just stumped at the idea that you have a choice about spending time with your kid, and I wonder if I'm doing something wrong. www.thecut.com/article/how-...

I don't understand some of these people. If you don't want to be a parent, just...don't be a parent? Seems like maybe something they should have thought of before they had kids!

Charitably, some parts of it (positive and negative) you can't really appreciate until you experience it.

There are absolutely parts of this I agree with completely. The fact that my weekends are basically 28-30 hours of direct parenting has worn me down extremely. I'm on year 5 of often feeling like I no longer exist while having to pretend it's the greatest privilege of my life.

My kid is about to turn six. So she needs adult supervision for a while longer. That's either some combination of my wife or myself, school, camp and the like, or very rarely a babysitter ($25 per hour). So yeah, weekends get eaten up because either were out doing something going crazy stuck inside

I am trying to remember what my parents did

it's interesting that most of the moms interviewed in this are millionaires? Like i'm not sure how scarjo and jennifer garner's experience maps to most people. my other take is there should be a law that we only get one of these stories a year.

The one who just shrugged off about not having to potty train them is a Hitler. The preschool probably did it out of desperation of not changing a 40 pound 4 year old's diapers who can fully talk through the entire process. Ours wont send them to Preschool 3 (equal to Pre-K) in diapers.

I've seen day cares who advertise potty training as a service. That said, without going into gruesome details, based on our experience I'm not gonna judge any families who struggled with it.
