There's a lot to be said about models in the lineage of Alphafold, not least that they are an extremely narrow application that has been used to legitimise a society-wide transformation, but one specific is that they are not 'just' AI but include biophysical modeling and constraints

slavery happened and those documents exist. I think the "now what?" of that may not be inherently unethical, but someone else has probably done that deep thinking who has far more right and expertise to do it than I do.

I think the analysis of whalesong using GenAI will be a whole huge ethical mess due to what we choose to do with what we will have learned, but it did come to mind.
