It would turn into a North and South Korea situation I think. People would constantly be trying to escape red America, especially women, racial minorities, disabled people, LGBTQ, etc... Red America would fail over and over and turn into a dystopian hell hole and blame blue America for all of it.

Why? They have mask rights and gun rights, n abortions, jesus everywhere. Tiny government. Let them come back of they want. Eventually all of them would want to come back. That's the point.

That's exactly what happened in RA Novels. They build a wall around the south. And tossed all the "angels" into it. It was a backwards hellhole where there was no schools, only preachers could read, and everyone worked mines or farms as the only industries. And your job owned your house.

RA Heinlein wrote extensively about the USA being taken over by theocratic rightwingers. He spoke of public stonings and forced birthing rape camps and a smooth talking charlatan that started it all. He also spoke of underground militants taking the country back and banning religion.
