Love this essay. I just bought an IMAX ticket to see The Odyssey tomorrow night. 26 years ago, I spent a month in Türkiye/Anatolia. Visited the ruins of Troy, surrounded by meadows full of red poppies. Saw the rhododactylos Eos over the Aegean Sea from a villa in Çesme.
