What is telling is that the three MEPs that split of PiS will likely remain within the ECR group. This is part of the intra-EP battle for who is third-largest group, with ECR (84) and 'Patriots for Europe' (85) currently very close.

It's also a sign of how crowded the far-right field is in Poland. Next to France and Czechia, it is the only member state that already has parties in all three far-right groups, so Morawiecki doesn't have an obvious place where to go.

#Morawiecki joining Tusk in the @eppgroup.bsky.social ? That would be political suicide for him in #Poland. Nah, he can remain with the ECR and the much more centrist Czech ODS.

Intersting question. I do not know enough about Polish internal politics, so others like @jakubjaraczewski.bsky.social might know more. But my educated guess is that it would first require a deal with Tusk in Poland before the EPP would be willing to admit them.

This could be a 2027 post-elections question, if we end up with a Tusk-Morawiecki coalition (not impossible).
