In 2000, I believed 1. I was in the Knowledge Age, and 2. I would see the beginning of the Wisdom Age.
My optimistic assessment was incorrect. Hopefully, my pessimism is equally incorrect.
Cheers. Doomer is someone who is irrationally pessimistic. My pessimism is not irrational. I can be for brief spurts. But its more enduring state is factual and logical.
Same here. But I want to believe, not irrationally, not blind faith, that things can get better.
Like, I sum it up as "I'm not hopeful, but I have hope."
Hopeful, to me, implies I THINK things will improve.
Hope is....just that.....I hope. Because it could. It so easily could. & yet........
Stellar semantic work there. While we assign the meaning of words, those meanings continue to endure in our mind. It is good to prune our use of words and weed our psychological garden.
TY
It helps me get through.
I battle depression. I battle hopelessness. I battle ennui.
Hope is what I personally have. And whatever tiny bit I can give to others to get through this thing called existence as best we can, I'll try.
Because I don't want to give up. I don't want to check out.
Tou are.
I grew up in a place where I was given every answer to every question.
I eventually learned...that wasn't true. Life was more complex.
And it's complex. And scary. And sometimes awful.
But it's also beautiful. And wonderful. And amazing.
I'm trying to handle it ALL. For me.
Regarding depression, I know it well. Most people struggle. Those who know they struggle are two steps ahead of those who do not.
Depression, like the pain in my right knee, is a benefit to me. It tells me that I want to change from my current path. I now meditate on the practice of path changes.
