It's a horrid time for the games industry, and a horrid time for the games media, but that doesn't mean there aren't important stories to write about. In fact, there are *many* that need doing. So start by picking at least one (BDS is a good one).

And hey look, it's possible you work at a company that has a hard line against one or more of these topics. I promise you there's a subject you can write about that's meaningful and that needs doing. So give it a go.

Yeah I think there's a difference between "no ethical consumption under capitalism" and wearing blinders that are very well calibrated to perform that capitalism! Even if behavior can't be perfect people should grapple with stuff. It's good for people to develop complex feelings.

I have an Evo tattoo on my arm (pre-aquisition), it's my favourite event in the world and is staffed by wonderful people. I'm still able to write about it in a fashion that isn't one dimensional, and believe it's important to do stuff like that. If I didn't I'd go work in a bank or something!

And some of that is just bad fan culture stuff. I think to love anything is to see from all angles in many different lights. I also think a lot of people don't agree or don't practice that.
