I have said repeatedly that Russell Vought should be impeached. Congress appropriates and this is a high crime against its powers under Article I. The most important thing DOGE did was take over the appropriations pipes at Treasury. If you wanted to close USAID and CFPB pass a bill.

Very important piece by Cerin Lindgrensavage and @davidasuper.bsky.social. This behavior by the administration is not only illegal, it is anti-constitutional. thehill.com/opinion/cong...

Impoundment is illegal and unconstitutional

Not sure our congress knows what impeachment is. Seems there should be calls for impeachment every single day in this country. Hard to not feel doomed.

The antideficiency act has criminal penalties.

Also why is nobody talking about Congress’s war powers right now?

Lawless.

Can you throw in Paoletta? Kinda like an Impeach One Get One free deal?

And Heritage should have its tax exemption revoked.

5 year statute of limitations is key.

It’s such a huge deal. It’s actually the #1 coup situation, to reach in and turn off the money spigot, and I wish more people understood that

Congress is our best evidence that we have entered our Gelded Age.

Congress has to investigate DHS procurements of body worn cameras that can't do what they are supposed to do - produce realtime audio and video footage of ICE-civilian interactions. Incompetence and indifference.

The one part of Project 2025 I read was the Vaught authored section where he laid out his plans to do exactly this. Journalists covering this administration that haven't read the document are committing malpractice.

This is a complete and utter abuse of power Congress’s authority to appropriate funds is a constitutional baseline if they want to shut down key agencies, they must follow proper legislative procedures, not resort to unconstitutional means.

I can't believe that guy's the same age as me. This really argues against the health benefits of feeding on human souls.

It bears repetition: Congress passes the laws. The Executive's duty is to faithfully execute them. Appropriations are laws passed by the Congress. The Executive doesn't have authority to alter, extend, or ignore them.

John Roberts didn’t get that memo.

The Roberts Court makes all kinds of exceptions for their Special Boy. As soon as a Democrat is in the White House they will re-think all of these decisions that expanded presidential power.

Ответ для Charlie Mas

And the GOP will pretend that it was like that all along. Which, shamefully, the press will swallow.

Ответ для Charlie Mas

And they will have no trouble reversing their own decisions because they do not respect precedent. Not even their own.

Toto pulled aside the curtain and found this motherfucker...

AGREE!

My God these people have decided that no rules at all apply to them. They should be on trial for this.

I agree with you that Vought should be impeached. Vought's use of USAID funds to pay for his personal security underscores the question of what else he's done with all the other withheld appropriated funds. krishnamoorthi.house.gov/media/press-...

Send vought to gitmo

Vought has no allegiance to anyone or anything other than the Heritage Foundation and their shady, shadowy cult.

His proposed totalitarian power grab aka rule change (OMB-2026-0034) seems unprecedented except for Stalin and Mao. So, is Vought actually the commander of the "communists" that Trump keeps warning us about?

Thank the SC and their unilateral power bs interpretation.

STOP THIS. IT IS ILLEGAL.

Honest, ignorant question: can Musk go to jail for DOGE, or was he simply following orders?

Russell Vought just turned 50-years old and looks every bit of 65. Being an awful human being is tough on the soul.

And you know what, if I was a Republican, no loyalty to Vought. If you want to win in 2028, sacrifice him.

Ответ для Professa Murray

Not sure why they'd disavow him. He's delivering on the Republican's decades-long wish list – permanently crippling state capacity to do anything except far-right propaganda, Jim Crow, overseas adventurism, and corruption.

He has got a short life while they have a trifecta and then he will become an anchor like Musk. He is a weasel.

Ответ для Professa Murray

I'd certainly like to see Vought become a household name, in the pantheon of great fascist enabler weasels.

Ответ для Professa Murray

All that time in OMB during T1 as deputy and then acting director gave him sooooo much time and access to make a plan and move fast when he came back. It's so disheartening to feel like Congress has given up the power of the purse.

I want to say for the record that this is not Congress; this is the Republican Party using deeply anti-democratic acquiescence to an anti-constitutional power grab. They should be ashamed for their dishonorable means. They can’t pass a bill that should be on them.

A despicable weasel.

Look, MAGA is 4 or 5 different, mutually antagonistic things duct taped & chicken wired together—against reason & the laws of nature—by a dumbshit cult of personality. Trump is *the* personality. Neither MAGA *nor Trump* cares about anyone else. Rs who fear Trump have no reason to fear his minions.

Ответ для John Sisino

Regardless, the incompetent assclowns Trump keeps appointing are pissing normies off & this is going to cost Rs dearly at the polls. Even *if* some agree with a more competent, less corrupt version of smaller government. Therefore, Rs should be defenestrating these minions every chance they get.

Is he the head of Epstein Inc now? He have all the blackmail info?

Yes. Here's why they will eventually come around to your view: if a Rep. or Senator can't even deliver a passed and signed appropriation, why would a special interest ever steer a campaign contribution to them?

Ответ для Professa Murray

Please. He should be first. Tlaib had none of it the other day. He was the architect of destroying govt and Miller destroying people.

They obviously need a few GOP votes to impeach them and I'm wondering if anyone has sat down with a few of the GOP members who have a bone to pick with the administration or Mike Johnson and taken their temperature on impeaching a few of them. I'd imagine at least Massie would be a Yes on a few...

Ответ для Steve in Chicago

I also like impeachment as a mechanism, because it forces Congress to at least have the conversation and discuss why a federal official is a piece of shit even if they don't get to conviction (and the 2/3 bar isn't ever going to happen.)

Ответ для Steve in Chicago

Also thinking that if one of these ever DOES get out of committee, it isn't going to be because whatever passes for a moderate in the GOP these days agreed; it's going to be because some of the crazies on the right saw an opportunity to shiv Mike Johnson or Trump (only applies to Massie)

Ответ для Steve in Chicago

I'm hoping someone is at least having a casual conversation with Republicans who would like to see, say, Russell Vought, Kash Patel and Brendan Carr gone based purely on non-partisan corruption and grift concerns.

And makes Susan Collins arguments about how important she is that she’s chair of Senate Appropriations Committee absolutely BS because in this regime Vought controls the $$$ Remember in November
