Clarifying to see how a lot of “respect the troops” was always BS. They never meant it, never thought taking on risk for national service was honorable, just saw people serving the country as props, and “respect the troops” as a selective way to try to silence disagreement over foreign policy.
Christopher WebbSo Trump started the war, then stood over the flag-draped caskets of fallen service members and claimed they all agreed with his decision? That’s not honoring the dead; that’s using them as political props. The families deserve better.
