Pixar has been hit the hardest on Disney’s round of layoffs. TheWrap reports that ‘Hoppers’ is partially being blamed for the layoffs as the film was shy of breaking even at the box office after making $389.5M against a $150M budget.

So wait, how is 400 mil not covering 150 mil cost. Math is not really mathing here.

Half the box office goes to the theatres. The cost doesn’t include marketing. That being said, Hoppers is likely profitable, just not super-profitable.

If over roughly 2.5 times the initial cost doesn't cover the cost of releasing it, than the company selling it is a failure. How the hell did they burn nearly 250 mil on that and still blame the movie? What a ridiculous amount of overhead.

Well, to be fair, you can’t trust Hollywood accounting. Box office may be right.
